General Rules & Guidelines | | 01 | Respect one another We are LGBT+ friendly. Harassment, disrespect, and bullying will not be tolerated, whether it is directed at staff or non-staff players. We will not tolerate name-calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks, verbal abuse, or any other behavior the staff believes detracts from the positive atmosphere of the community. | 02 | 2-1-1 rating PG-13 — Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13.
- 2 — Swearing is generally permitted. However, the language cannot be severely abused.
- 1 — Mild sexual innuendo and references permitted. No explicit representations or references to genitalia or sex acts.
- 1 — Mild violence is permitted. Explicit descriptions of gore are not allowed.
| 03 | One account per character We are an Account Per Character (APC) forum. Your main account will be your OOC account with your nickname, preferably the same name that you use in Discord. Each accepted character will have their own accounts to post in In-Character (IC) boards. | 04 | No distasteful names or usernames Offensive language, slurs, or other harmful words should not be in your username, or used as your character's name. | 05 | Images/Graphics Avatars should be 150x150px with a 270x270px mini-profile hover image. Signature images should not exceed 700px wide and 300px in height. Character images and Face Claims (FCs) should be real animals and not drawn, animated, or computer-generated. Any images that violate the Proboards Community Guidelines will be removed. | 06 | Theft is strictly prohibited Using art, literature, posting templates, content, etc., that does not belong to you and was not made by you is not allowed without crediting the original artist or creator. If the artist or creator has stated that their work may not be used, please respect their wishes. If you have done your due diligence and have attempted to find the original artist or creator, but the work has been posted across the internet so much that it is impossible to find the original creator, you may use it without giving credit; however, you must still state that the art does not belong to you. | 07 | Activity checks If you are going to be absent for an extended period of time, please post in the Absences & Introductions board to let us know. Much like in school, we use "roll call" to establish who is still present and active on the site.
- Roll call will be every two months (60 days) and will last for an entire month (30 days), starting on the first of the month and ending on the last day of the month.
- You are required to post at least two in-character posts for each of your characters between each roll call. In other words, you have 3 months (90 days) to post 2 in-character posts per character.
- If it has been longer than 6 months since you have been online, your account and characters may be deleted.
| 08 | Chat & Discord Rules
- Treat everyone with respect. No bullying, sexism, racism, homophobia, or other hate-based chat.
- No spamming or trolling the chat. Please do not spam or troll the chat, or @tag members or groups repeatedly.
- Please do not advertise in the chatbox or Discord. We have an Advertising board for advertisements to go. Any advertisements outside of the advertising board will be deleted.
- No RP within the chatbox or Discord. All RP should be done on the forums. If you're looking for some rapid-fire RP, check the Quick Roleplay board.

[break] Character & In-Character Rules | | 01 | No character limit You are not limited to the number of characters you may have, however, you must be active with each character or they will be archived. You may also opt to put them up for adoption in the Adoptables board for another member to take over. | 02 | Characters must be accepted by staff Characters must be accepted by staff before you may create their account or use them in In-Character (IC) threads. Please label their application as WIP while you are working on it, and post in the Help Desk to let staff know the application is ready to be reviewed. | 03 | Character's appearances must be realistic Felines should have realistic appearances that coincide with their real-world species. This means they may not have unnatural eye or fur colors, unnatural markings, or extra appendages such as horns, wings, etc. | 04 | No powers Although we are set in a post-apocalyptic world, these felines are normal felines with no powers or supernatural abilities, other than the ability to possibly see the spirits of their ancestors. The only exception to this rule are characters that are infected with the virus, which gives them enhanced abilities at a detriment to their well-being. | 05 | Members may not oversee their own characters You may not play as both the Overseer (mentor) and Tenderpaw (apprentice) to your characters. If your character is a Tenderpaw, they must be overseen by another member. You may post in the Relations or Plotting board to find a member to play as your Overseer, or check our Overseers & Tenderpaws thread for available Overseers. | 06 | Word Count/Posting Style We would like posts to be at least 200 words. If you are unable to meet the minimum post length, please be sure to at least post more than a "one-liner". You can add to your post to have your word count show in your post anywhere you type this phrase. We require proper capitalization, punctuation, and general adherence to appropriate grammar for the past-tense third-person perspective. | 07 | Liquid time is allowed You are allowed to have more than one active thread at a time. It is assumed that a character's threads are all taking place at different times that fit into a singular timeline. | 08 | Characters cannot die without permission Characters cannot be killed without express permission from their creator/author. The only exception to this rule would be felines that are very old, in which case staff may reach out to the player and suggest they kill off that character. The average lifespan of big cats is about 10-15 years depending on the species. | 09 | Follow posting turns Members must follow the set posting turn order in threads with three (3) or more players. For example, character A posts, then B, then C, then A again, then B, then C, and so on. If someone new enters the thread, the posting order will change. (A, B, C | A, D, B, C | A, D, B, F, C, etc.) If it has been more than 1 week (7 days) since a participant has posted, you may skip them until their next turn in the rotation. | 10 | Trigger & Content Warnings A trigger or content warning, or TW and CW for short, is used to warn people of content that might illicit a strong or potentially harmful emotional response. See this thread for our list of content and trigger warnings. If your thread contains one of the listed topics, you must add the corresponding label and list the type of warning in the thread description. | 11 | Unfair Roleplaying Godmodding, Powerplaying, and Metagaming are not allowed.
- Godmodding in its simplest terms is controlling another player's character without their permission. By imposing your will on their character without their permission, you are gaining 'godlike' or 'divine' powers, hence the origin of the term.[break]
* The most important thing to keep in mind when trying to avoid godmodding is to give the other player the chance to respond to the action. - Powerplaying is when a player manipulates their character's abilities, powers, or skills so that their character always has an advantage in the situation. This could be as simple as always knowing the best spell, or having a black belt in every type of martial art known to man.[break]
* The most important thing to remember when trying to avoid powerplaying is keeping in mind that no one is immortal, and they all have weaknesses, as well as keeping the bounds of reason in mind. - The easiest of the three to define, though likely the hardest to avoid is Metagaming. This term comes from the Greek word meta meaning 'about' or 'beyond'. Hence to metagame would be playing with knowledge beyond the scope of the present game, plot, or scene.[break]
* The most important thing to keep in mind to avoid metagaming is that just because you the player know something, doesn't mean your character will.

Playable SpeciesThis thread contains the "big cat" species that are able to be played as. [break][break] Big Cats[break] Panthera Tigris (Tiger)[attr="class","moment"] The tiger is the largest living cat species and a member of the genus Panthera. It is most recognizable for its dark vertical stripes on orange fur with a white underside. A tiger has a heavy coat of reddish-orange hair featuring a pattern of black stripes. Each has its own pattern of stripes kind of like a human’s fingerprints. It has a long tail as well as sharp teeth and claws. It is an apex predator, primarily preying on ungulates such as deer and wild boar. [break][break] Origin: Asia, Eurasia[break] Habitat: Dense tropical forest[break] Prey: Deer, Cattle, Wild Boar[break] Avg. Size: 70.1cm - 121.9cm (27.6in - 48in) at shoulder | 201.2cm - 396.2cm (6.6ft - 13ft) from nose to base of the tail[break] Avg. Weight: 267kg - 300kg (589lbs - 660lbs)[break] Avg. Lifespan: 18-25 years[break] Avg. Litter Size: 3[break] Top Speed: 60 mph[break] Subspecies:[break] - Bengal tiger

It has a muscular, deep-chested body, short, rounded head, round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail. It is sexually dimorphic; adult male lions are larger than females and have a prominent mane. Lions have a short coat of tawny or golden fur with a long tail. The markings on their coats are much fainter than the bold stripes and spots displayed on other felines which helps these large carnivores in going unseen when stalking prey in the long grasses. Lions have strong and powerful jaws that contain 30 teeth in total which includes four fang-like canines and four carnassial teeth that are perfectly designed for slicing through flesh. [break][break] Origin: Africa, Asia[break] Habitat: Open woodland, scrub, grassland[break] Prey: Antelope, Warthog, Zebra[break] Avg. Size: 91.4cm - 118.8cm (36in - 46.8in) at shoulder | 143.3cm - 249.9cm (4.7ft - 8.2ft) from nose to base of the tail[break] Avg. Weight: 120kg - 249kg (264lbs - 550lbs)[break] Avg. Its long tail helps with balance and changing direction quickly and unlike the rest of the Cheetah’s body, there are ringed markings along the tail which ends in a black tip. They also have distinctive black “tear marks” that run from the inner eye, along with their nose and down to the outside of their mouths, which are thought to help protect them from being blinded by the bright sun. The exceptional speed of the Cheetah is caused by a number of things including having strong and powerful hind legs, and an incredibly flexible and muscular spine which allows the Cheetah to not only sprint quickly but also makes them very agile. They also have non-retractable claws which dig into the ground, giving the Cheetah a better grip at high speed. [break][break] Origin: Africa, Asia, Eurasia[break] Habitat: Open grassland[break] Prey: Gazelle, Wildebeest, Hare[break] Avg. Mountain lion coats are a grayish tan to a reddish hue, and the animal features lighter parts underneath. The end of a cougar’s tail is black, and the cat has black markings on its ears and face. An amazing fact about cougars is that they can jump 20 feet into the air. This allows them to pounce on prey that’s 20 feet to 40 feet away from a standing position. [break][break] Origin: North-America[break] Habitat: Forest and mountainous regions[break] Prey: Deer, Elk, Beavers[break] Avg. Size: 61cm - 91.4cm (24in - 36in) at shoulder | 204.2cm - 240.8cm (6.7ft - 7.9ft) from nose to base of the tail[break] Avg. Weight: 29kg - 90kg (64lbs - 198lbs)[break] Avg. Leopards can vary greatly in their coloration and markings depending on their surrounding habitat, with those found on open grasslands having a light yellow background coat where those that are found in forests tend to be darker in color and with more markings. The dark, ring-like patterns that cover the Leopard’s coat are called rosettes, but these turn to solid spots on the face and limbs (and rings on the tail) and provide the Leopard with camouflage into the surrounding environment. Leopards are incredibly strong and muscular animals and are able to pull themselves up trees using their legs and retractable claws. [break][break] Origin: Africa, Asia[break] Habitat: Rainforest, grassland, and mountainous regions[break] Prey: Deer, Warthog, Rodents[break] Avg. They have a large, broad head with jaws so strong that they are said to have the most powerful bite of all the world’s Cats. Jaguars tend to have a cover of either tan or dark yellow fur, which is dotted with darker rose-like patterns that are similar to those of a Leopard (besides the fact that they have dark spots in the middles). Known as rosetting, the pattern on the Jaguar’s fur is unique to each animal much like fingerprints are unique to individual people, and despite its beauty, it actually acts as the perfect camouflage in the surrounding jungle. This camouflage turns out to be so vital to their chances of survival, that those Jaguars found in the rainforest are darker in color and often smaller than those found in more open areas. [break][break] Origin: Central-America, South-America[break] Habitat: Rainforest, swamp and floodplains[break] Prey: Deer, Capybara, Tapir[break] Avg. Size: 64cm - 76.2cm (25.2in - 30in) at shoulder | 112.8cm - 186cm (3.7ft - 6.1ft) from nose to base of the tail[break] Avg. Weight: 36kg - 160kg (79lbs - 350lbs)[break] Avg. Its small rounded ears help to minimize heat loss. Its broad paws well distribute the bodyweight for walking on snow, and have fur on their undersides to increase the grip on steep and unstable surfaces; it also helps to minimize heat loss. Its long and flexible tail helps to maintain balance in rocky terrain. The tail is very thick due to fat storage and is covered in a thick layer of fur, which allows the cat to use it as a blanket to protect its face when asleep. The snow leopard's fur is whitish to grey with black spots on the head and neck, with larger rosettes on the back, flanks, and a bushy tail. The belly is whitish. Its eyes are pale green or grey in color. [break][break] Origin: Asia, Eurasia[break] Habitat: Mountains[break] Prey: sheep, deer, antelopes, yaks and gazelles, and smaller mammals and birds[break] Avg. Size: 60.96cm (24in) at shoulder | 213.36cm (7ft) from nose to base of the tail[break] Avg. Weight: 23kg - 41kg (50lbs - 90lbs)[break] Avg. Lifespan: 21 years[break] Avg. The color of the animal varies depending on the species. The body color follows a gradient of medium brown to golden brown to as light as grayish-white. A furry ruff is found on all species. It’s usually marked with black bars that look like a bowtie, but it’s not always visible. All species have white fur on the undersides of their bodies. Bobcats are technically part of the lynx species, but they look a bit different compared to the other three species. They typically do not have long ear tufts, and their paws aren’t as obviously large and padded due to their common habitat in warmer climes. The bobcat’s scientific name, rufus, alludes to its reddish-brown coloring, and it often has prominent black spots as well. [break][break] Origin:Eurasia, Europe, North-America[break] Habitat: Secluded forests and mountainous regions[break] Prey: Hare, Birds, Deer[break] Avg. Size: 45.7cm - 76.2cm (18in - 30in) at shoulder | 76.2cm - 106.7cm (2.5ft - 3.5ft) from nose to base of tail[break] Avg. Weight: 10kg - 25kg (22lbs - 55lbs)[break] Avg. Markings start on the top of the head, running between the ears and down the neck and forming four distinct stripes which break into spots on reaching the shoulders. The Serval’s relatively short tail is banded with black rings and ends in a black tip. Servals have quite long necks in comparison to their body size and when coupled with their long legs, enables their head to be up to 75cm off the ground which helps the animal to both see and hear clearly whilst hiding in the long grass. Like all other felines (with the exception of the Cheetah) the Serval is able to pull back its claws into protective pouches of skin in their feet which means that they are able to keep their claws sharp to hunt with as they are not being blunted when moving around. This cat’s ears stand straight up and are topped off by long black tufts of hair. No one is sure why caracal ears have tufts of hair on them. But, some scientists believe that caracals communicate with one another by twitching their ears. Caracals are closely related to servals. They are about the same size but live in different types of places. Servals like to hunt in humid, wet areas while caracals stay in dry, desert environments. A caracal has long, strong legs. When hunting, its legs work like coiled springs as it leaps into the air to grab a bird as it flies away. Caracals have sharp claws that help them to grab onto trees and climb up into the branches. They also use their claws to hunt and capture prey. Caracals mark their territory by clawing trees and releasing scent from between their toes.
